Does the school have any official recognition?
We are registered by the Rectorate of Bordeaux (French Ministry of Education) and B.L.S is a member of SOUFFLE (the only quality control organisation for French language schools and universities in France).

When do courses start?
Most courses start on the first Monday following the start of term (October & March)

How much advance notice do I need to enroll?
As early as possible and up to 2 weeks before the start of the course.

Besides a dictionary we advise you to pack an electrical adapter and a converter (if required).

How can I pay for tuition?
Payments must be made in Euro by : cheque, Traveller's cheque, Eurocheque, credit card - VISA, MASTERCARD or by bank transfer.

Do I have to take an insurance before leaving?
Absolutely. It should cover personal liability, medical expenses, sickness, accident and injury, repatriation, loss or theft of luggage and valuables. We also highly recommend you take an insurance against inability to attend or continue a course at BLS.

Will I need a VISA?
To study in France we recommend you contact your local French Embassy to obtain the VISA procedure of your country.

Are there direct flights from my country to Bordeaux?
Bordeaux International Airport has more than 200 flights per week. Most airline companies will fly you direct to Bordeaux from other main Euopean cities (London, Brussels, Madrid, Geneva, Basel, Munich, etc.). A Paris-Bordeaux flight takes 45 minutes. The train (TGV) from Paris to Bordeaux takes 3 hours.

What if I can't keep up with the programme?
At BLS there is no question of not keeping up with the programme. Throughout your course the teachers and Director of Studies are closely monitoring your progression, so that step by step you will move from one level to another at your own pace. Furthermore, if you feel that you are having difficulties understanding the lessons or find them too easy, then you should talk with our Director of studies who will help you find a solution to your problem.

Is it possible to bring my own textbooks?
If you want to study a specific subject and have selected private tuition then yes, you can bring your own textbooks. However, B.L.S. will supply the textbooks and teaching material required.

How quickly will I progress?
Your progression will all depend on:
- Your current level in French
- Your chosen course.
- The duration of your course
- Your learning ability
- Whether or not you speak or have studied other languages
- The length of time (and how long ago) you have studied French
- Your own personal motivation

The distance can vary between 5 minutes by foot to 25 minutes by bus.

Does B.L.S arrange any extracurricular activities?
Yes, we offer a wide range of cultural and leisure activities after class. The cost of the activities we organise can vary from 3 € to 22 €.
