BLS's aim is to respond as accurately as possible to its students learning requirements and objectives, needs that have been statistically analysed.
Aim
This French language course enables the
student to develop his knowledge and skills in communication,
both oral and written.
Needs
various
types of courses adapted to meet students' requirements : cross-cultural
views, personal development, professional interests, curricular,
practical and evaluative aspects.
Objectives
to appropriate the linguistic
and cultural notions of France and
the French speaking communities by using the 4 CECR competences
: written and oral comprehension, written and oral skills.
Methodology
communicative
and active approach using the CECR methods : language situations
favoring non-artificial communication, group dynamics, respect
of individuality, interactivity, convergence of language skills
ie : grammatical, lexical and phonetical.
Teachers
Graduated from university as well
as experience abroad teaching French as a foreign language. Constant
updating of teaching methods. The teaching staff are supervised
by the Director of Studies who conducts regular meetings and
class observations.
Teaching Materials
FLE (French as a Foreign
Language) manuals, authentic
and didactic materials, grammar and lexical documents, audio
and video materials, internet.
Syllabus
3 main manuals are used which are
broken down into linguistic proficiency (oral and written), grammar
and expression, cultural aspects. Example: Campus 3 unité 1
: the two modes of past expression, language and history, French
thriller novels and films.
Progression
1 didactic unit
per week. Students who have acquired the
skills corresponding to the unit will then move onto the following
unit as of the second week and so on. Group changes due to students'
progression are taken into consideration by the teacher and Director
of Studies.
Assessment
prior to arrival each student must
complete a compulsory
written test, plus an oral test upon arrival. Weekly evaluations
to assess acquired abilities. Each student obtains a French language
certificate attesting the level of competence attained at the
end of the course and the number of ECTS credits (2 per week).
Levels are based on the CECR : A1/A2 (elementary level), B1/B2
(intermediate level), C1/C2 (Advanced level).
